Kota Doria Hand Block Print Saree with Embroidery Work — Rajasthan
Kota Doria is woven in Kaithoon, near Kota in Rajasthan, and its defining quality is what it doesn't have: weight. The open square weave — called the Khat — creates a fabric that is airy, breathable, and comfortable through long hours of wear. It is one of the few traditional Indian weaves that works as well in summer as it does year-round.
This saree combines hand block printing with embroidery work — two crafts that complement each other well on Kota Doria's light, open weave. The block print lays down the pattern; the embroidery adds texture and detail on top.
