Ajrakh is a unique form of block printing found mostly in Ajrakhpur, Kutch district, India. These sarees display special designs and patterns made using block printing by stamps. Over the years, ajraks have become a symbol of the Sindhi culture and traditions. The name Ajrakh is linked to azrakh, the Arabic word for indigo, a blue plant which thrived in the arid ecology of Kachchh until the 1956 earthquake1. With nine to 21 stages of printing and dyeing, Ajrakh is one of the most complex craft techniques in the world. In India, the Ajrakh textile is still printed in the desert region of Kutch and Barmer in Rajasthan by craftsmen, mostly from the Khatri community
